text: At first the trail leads through the new jhums of Oting. They have not yet been burnt off but bushes and leaves on the branches already are dry and brown. Separate trunks of younger trees stick up out of the underbrush, their crowns cut off too. The only bit of green on the brown slope are two stands of bamboo which were too precious to be felled too. The long and not entirely level ridge between the slopes of Oting and Lunglam is filled with forest of tall and strong trees which apparently have never been cut.
