In front of the Ang's house there is an open space with a tree and some stones as they are set up for captured heads. A small stone was recently set up for the Pangsha head. Some of the older men have the neck tattoos of true head-hunters which they earned on a raid towards Pongshong, but no heads are in the morung as they passed them on to Mon, their overlord. The Pangsha head is hanging in a basket on a tree near the stones. I am offered rice beer and bananas on the platform of the Ang's house. In addition the Ang gives me a chicken as a salaam. |
