Here there are no such strict prescriptions about destroying the property (132) of a man who has died a bad death as exists among the Ao and also in Tamlu and Namsang. Only the ornaments the man was actually wearing are thrown away as well as personal belongings such as his dao. The land is passed on to the usual descendants and his house is not taken down. The corpse is only wrapped into a mat and is deposited onto a very low support. No special burial of the skull is done in this case but it remains untouched on the body. Death at childbirth is also considered to be a bad death and the entire village holds a strict genna. |
