It was confirmed for me that the people of Tamlu's Ung morung speak the same language as Tanhai while the languages of Tanhai and Punkhung show differences. Tanhai, which once was a much bigger village and was situated where recently the head ceremony was performed, had been completely destroyed by Chi not too long ago, (146) maybe two or three generations ago. Sixty heads were captured by Chi and the people of Tanhai were dispersed. They were taken in by their neighbouring villages, in particular Punkhung, Wakching and Wanching, and only after some time they built the present day Tanhai. |
