text: first leads through secondary jungle (196) in which however some trees which were once spared at the preparation of the jhum have developed splendidly, unhindered by inhibiting neighbours. This ridge probably has not been worked for years. It descends quite steeply into the valley at the bottom of which winds a small, clear stream between big rocks. From here the path goes on uphill without interruptions, partly through woods, partly through old clearings. Fortunately some clouds are now hiding the sun. Nevertheless the sweat is pouring from our faces.
