text: Near the village we meet several groups of women on their way to the fields. They are incredibly shy and most of them run into the jungle as soon as they see us, where they hide until we have passed. I had already noticed the unusual timidness of the women in the two small villages. Their shyness seems to be related to the distance of the villages from the plains and the frequency of visitors. It is most difficult to photograph women here and in Kongan and it is easiest in villages like Longkhai and Oting.
