One enters the village through a gate and immediately to the left there is a morung, the Oiabang. Here there are now men and young boys sitting around and it is obvious at a glance that some feast is being celebrated. The gaonburas who met me at the gate explained to me that this morung was holding the Bangmoba, the annual morung genna. On the platform in front of the morung there is a man who is just now cleaning a buffalo skull of all meat. This buffalo was killed yesterday, not by the men of this morung but by the young men of the Oiyubang, the neighbouring morung. While an old man of the Oiabang first cut off only the buffalo's tail, the Oiyubang boys rushed in with their daos, (198) first hacked off the poor buffalo's legs, then made deep incisions into his back and only then they finally pushed a spear into his heart.
