Later I spoke with Shankok about dreams. Despite or possibly because of the active sex life of the young people in Wakching apparently sexual dreams with ejaculation are very common. Shankok says that he does not just dream of intercourse with girls of other morungs, but also of embracing girls of his own morung and clan, sometimes even of intercourse with his sisters. He emphasises most of all that in his dreams he often has a relationship with older women which seems odd to him. When I ask him he even admits having sexual dreams involving his mother, but I do not put much weight on that as it was not a spontaneous comment and I did not want to force the issue. Finally Shankok laughed and said that he even dreams of having intercourse with his wife, (232) something he never does in reality and never has done either. |
