No one can say where the people emerged from the pumpkin or bird but the region called Yengyudang is considered to be the earliest home, a mountain which is identical with the Piankong of the Aos. At first they supposedly lived in the land of the Ao (11) and some of the gaonburas went so far as to say that they had come from the direction of Mokokchung, in particular even from Wokha, but I do not think that the latter is an old tradition. All agree that from Yengyudang they migrated via various places to Chinglong. The villages on the way where they had settled are Mohung, Hanching, Choha and Nganching. From Chinglong they founded the village, Wakniudzing, between Wanching and Wakching. Only there the people of Wanching and Wakching divided and founded their own villages. |
