migrations and expulsions |
text: |
Yongang admits that during the expulsion of the Bala people, the head of one young man was cut off to punish their extravagence, but the head was tossed into the forest and no genna was performed. More than half of the Bala people were taken in by clan members of the Balang and these then rebuilt their burnt down houses "in the name of the Balang". The other fled. (15) Slightly unusual is the case of a Kongan youth who is living and working in house number 37 which belongs to a man who has no male descendant. The boy arrived a year ago and when the owner of the house dies he will inherit as though he were a real descendant. |
