text: Today too the people of Wakching did good business and I bought numerous things, among them cloths from Wanching, Hang, Chi and Chongwe. Shankok had received the cloths from Chi and Chongwe when his father died, from one of his friends from Chongwe, and from the Ang of Chi. It is customary to make a present to the family when a friend dies 'in the name of the deceased', no matter whether it is a cloth, an ivory ring or even only a chicken.
