Chinyang's costume and headdress |
text: |
Chinyang too has already prepared his headdress of dog-skin, boars' tusks and buffalo horns with human hair, and a chin-strap of dog's teeth. He said that he would never sell this headdress which is evidence of his deeds as a headhunter. When he dies it will be placed onto his burial frame so that all know "that is the burial frame of Chinyang who himself had still captured heads", and in Yimbu too he will need the helmet as well as all his weapons. That is because on the way to Yimbu all those people will ambush him who he has killed and he has to fight them all the way. That is why dead men have all their weapons on their graves or hanging on the small frames in the village. |
