text: We walk along the Bala path which leads through the fields below the trail to Wanching. The rice is now already vigorously growing and the millet stands in strong green bunches, but the maize raises above both. The fields are partly steep and rocky but the soil between the big rocks is supposed to be good. There are people today at all the field houses (101). We also pass a field where Shikna and her small brother are just now weeding. Shankok had already told me ahead of time and had asked me to photograph her. This however was not easy as she continued to turn away in embarrassment. But finally a snapshot succeeded after Shankok had called to her to behave more reasonably.
