When I passed the platform again on my way now Meniu and her girlfriends were sitting there singing with some Angban boys. It was already almost dark and the girls had already abandoned the shyness which they usually display. Some had moved close to the boys and one girl had spread her white cloth over herself and the two boys sitting next to her. One of the boys had put his arm around her shoulder and they laughed without embarrassment when I came closer. In response to my comment (111) that it must be nice to sit with the girls he tenderly squeezed his partner and another young man also succeeded in getting his girl to spread her cloth around him. The contrast in the girls' behaviour to the daytime is astonishing. |
