It is a small village hardly bigger than Shiong. The storm has blown down one of the field houses and has carried away the roofs of several. Many fallen trees along the way also are evidence of the force of the storm. I thank God that no branch had come down on my tent. (127) At the entrance to the village we were met by a man who functions as assistant to the gaonbura who himself is already quite old. Near the entrance is the Lak-ha-ba morung, a small insignificant looking building which had been put up last year in place of the big morung which was blown down by a storm a year ago. Some huge posts which were lying next to it indicated that the destroyed building must have been quite imposing. Just opposite the morung is the drum house with the big slit drum. |
