text: On arrival in Wakching we hear that the storm had torn down two houses, one of the Thepong and another of the Oukheang. Today the Wakching people are keeping a genna while yesterday, the day after the storm, they had gone to their fields and had put up a small platform near the field house to bury 'like a corpse' some broken-down millet and rice plants. The next day is genna. The storm also has destroyed many of the field huts (138) on the old fields. Shankok alone has lost five field houses.
