With the help of a Longkhai gaonbura I could supplement my small word list of the Longkhai language. It is the same as the language of Mon. Today the whole village is genna because an old woman of the Thepong died a sudden death of a kind which is considered portentous. Supposedly she had long suffered from mental disturbances and now she collapsed and died at a steep part of the village. Shankok did not want to talk much about it as it is said that Ghawang sends this kind of sudden death and it is bad luck to talk much about it. |
