(217) At the Bala I made some colour photographs of Henlong, Dzemang's niece. Later I photographed at Shankok's house in particular, Liphung with her colourful necklaces. Then also Meniu, a very pretty girl of the Khoknok clan, who as her parents are dead now lives with Weidzing, Shankok's little cousin. Although Shankok and Meniu are of the same clan there was no difficulty in photographing them together. Meniu is neither engaged nor married although she is one of the prettiest girls. The farewell from Wakching was rather sad and it was with a heavy heart that I climbed down the stone steps at the Thepong morung for a last time. I have become very fond of this village and its inhabitants and I will often long to be back. |
