treatment and feeding of skulls |
text: |
(92) When the skulls are taken from the platforms and put into the stone cists, for people who were much loved a chicken is killed in the house and then taken to the jungle where it is put on the palm-leaf fence which is erected around the skull box. Also some cooked food is placed on this fence. About one month later, but not on a fixed day, a pig is killed and divided up among the mourners and helpers at the funeral, but one whole leg is put to the skull place, near to the skull of the deceased. |
