It is genna to go near a tree struck by lightning. After it was struck the owner of the ground and one old man go to the tree and there kill a chicken and say: [konyak] "one, two, three, six". They first approach the tree with a banana leaf held in front of them and salute the tree with bows pronouncing the words mentioned above. Then they make a fence around the tree and sacrifice a chicken and fasten the limbs and the head at the fence. (14) On the same day the whole village stays at home. When the two men leave the village for making this genna they carry leaves (of any kind) in their hands so that the people know they are going to make a genna and don't speak to them. When they come back they first stay for half an hour in the drum-house, then go to the morung and then home. |
