On the Hashambu day, every householder partitions off one of his new fields (or on an old one if he has no new fields) a small patch which he marks by a boundary of wooden logs. This patch is called Ghimdzong. In its centre is a small square made of four sticks called Khundra (cf. also p. 132). |

He first kills a chicken on the place called Khundra and says: "sow well, maybe rice, taro, big maybe". He then sprinkles the blood on the rice seed and on the Khundra. Then he sows the rice on the Khundra. This rice is never (139) eaten but used the next year again to be sown on the khundra. The basket in which the chicken was brought is put on the Khundra, impaled on a stick, and the bamboo with which the chicken was killed is put into the basket. The feathers are stuck into the ground in the Khundra. |
