gifts and divorces by Great Angs |

(171) At the time of the "Bihu" the Angs also invite their sisters who are married in other villages and give them presents. |

When a Great Ang divorces one of his Ang wives and sends her back to her village without paying compensation, her relations consider that as a casus belli and try to kill some of the Ang's men. In war people try to kill Great Angs as it is considered as a great exploit to kill an Ang. (172) Angs don't divorce their Ben wives. Ben men pay a compensation to the families of their wives when they divorce them. They first give to the woman one dao to take away with her, then when her relatives complain, they give a big pig and even more to them, but no fields. |
