2. Pongwembu. A post is put up in front of the Ang's house on the head place. This post is called "thau". It has the shape of carved house posts with a hornbill on the top . (175) A dog and a cock are buried in the hole made for the post and crushed by it. Another cock is impaled on a bamboo (with the head towards the sky) and the bamboo tied to the post. When the post is carried (by the young men) the men say "hang, hang" (like the roar of a tiger) for the Ang is of the tiger's clan. The same noise is made when the corpse of an Ang is carried. |

The Ang for whom the Pongwembu is made remains with his main wife, hidden in his house for the whole of the day on which the post is set. With him stays the head of the Doalim clan. For the Ang a pig is killed by the Doalim man and only of this, not of mithan, he eats on that day. |
