text: (144) Divorce.
text: If divorce is by mutual consent no fine is paid by either side. If a man divorces his wife in order to marry another he has to pay seven layas, two fields and one pig to her family (her father or brother). It becomes their, not the divorced wife's property. If a woman leaves her husband and marries another man, the latter has to refund the marriage price and all small presents even which the first husband has given to the wife's parents. (145) If she doesn't marry again, no fine is paid and the marriage price is not refunded by the parents. For a widow a smaller marriage price is paid than for a girl.
