text: It is correct that the eldest son inherits the whole property of the father and that the younger sons only get fields for cultivation every year. They even give a small price to their elder brother for the fields they cultivate. Daughters may receive one field to cultivate, if there are no sons, but they can't pass it on to their children, It goes back to her clan when they die. But if a man has no sons and near male relatives he may adopt a man even of another village and this man may inherit (122) though there are men of the same clan in the village (cf. Balang 15).
