(123) (cf. NB 3 p. 89). Yaniulongba (or Ning-wang) - a jungle spirit, who laughs and shouts like a man. When people see a hole in the ground they say it is Yaniulongba's house. Chinyang GB. heard Yaniulongba this year in the jungle, but couldn't see him. He became very afraid and ran home. There is a place, Ning-wang-yo, on Balang land, where one can see Yaniulongba. Yongna (Metahu, Balang) who was Dak-wola, met (124) Yaniulongba on that spot. Yaniulongba menaced him with a spear with goat's hair and a dao with goat's hair. He is very tall, like an enormous man. Yongna fled and died two days later. |
