A song sung by the Thepong men: [konyak] |
text: |
(155-156) A Balang song: [konyak] "Wakching is above all villages; (our song) shall well enter your ears, - all villagers, Ben men and Ang-men shall prick their ears like dogs. Those Ben men (ie. Aukheang and Thepong men) who arranged to burn the village (Kongan), what have they achieved. At the Aukheang and Thepong path near the rubber tree they took an oath on the morung (to burn Kongan). But though the Kongan men were alone they fled before them; near the river Phei-wang they fled. Their mother's carrying bands they must search (in order to hang themselves); on the tray over the fire they hold themselves and cry for their mothers. Those who have said they would burn the village; what work have they done". (158-165) [konyak]. |
