text: Hasoichak, 19th August Again there has been a brilliantly fine day. Yesterday we asked the morung-owner of Laisong to arrange for five porters to take us to Hosaichak. This morning arrived one man, one boy, one small girl, and two women. Clearly they could not move our luggage and we had to engage in addition two men of the P.W.D. camp. - The road rose steadily partly through forest and partly through jhums. At a resting place we met three men from the Manipur village, Tamilnang, who are going to Mahur to buy - of all things - cement. Tamilnang is a Zemi village just across the border and visible from the hills above Hosaichak.
text: After a climb of just over two hours we reached a saddle and to my pleasant surprise the Bungalow of Hosaichak. It is beautifully situated with a wide view over a broad valley and the wooded ridges beyond which lie in Manipur.
