There are three Kadepeos in Linglopungo. One of them Helamtsong (gaonbura), another Hekungkeyung, third Heingkambe - all Indrame. Clans: Indrame and Neume. Only Indrame has private land. The Kadepeo have land not only in Linglopungo but also in other places ie. in Kepelo and in Laisong-Bagang. Such land is called "turam". People of all clans may cultivate such land but they must pay rent to the Kadepeo, even if of Indrame clan. People of the same village pay in paddy, those of other villages in cash. The 3 Kadepeos are common owners of the turam land. They do not own specific parts. They are descendants of the same grandfather. The Kadepeo is not a priest - Kyahingmape, a person, is priest for the whole village. Each morung has a separate priest. In each morung both clans are represented. Thirty families came 15 years ago from Hosaichak. Seven houses have since been added through natural increase. People of Linglopongo and Hosaichak still go to each others feasts. There is intermarriage with other villages as well as within the village. |
