Road upkeep problems near Aichisagami; millet ruined by heavy rain |
text: |
To Aichisagami. The distribution of miles on this part of the road needs looking into and re-arranging. Longsa (now that the Longsa bye-road has very properly been given up) only has two miles. Tichipami has three and never does them. Tichipami asked to be given the mile that adjourned their village. If possible this might be done and Tichipami made to keep it in order without payment until they learn to keep their mithan off it. It is in a disgraceful condition and the narrow place which the Sub-divisional Officer ordered to be made wide has not yet been done. Complaints were made to me that the erection of cattle fences with gates on the bridle-paths had been prohibited by the Overseer this year. Probably it is a misunderstanding, but in any case nothing can be done to stop their erection as they are absolutely necessary to the villages. There ought however to be a 5 feet free way between the posts of the gate. |

Marched the last three miles through dismal fields of sodden millet all ruined by the heavy rain. |
