The water like glass, too clear to fish, though two men of Melomi were catching small fish on a hook and line, one fishing while the other dirtied the water up above so that the line was not too visible in the water. Shot a dorik on the way down and missed another. |

There was a case between Melomi and Lapvomi about fishing in the Phodung river which was ultimately amicably settled, and a dispute in Lapvomi itself between the different khels about red cloths and Gaonburas which I disposed of as well. One khel had absorbed cloths by the old dodge of coming in to Kohima on the death of the Gaonburas of other khels and getting cloths for men of their own khel on the pretence that they represented the khel whose head-man was dead. |
