Up to Tamlu where I visited the dispensary and on to Merangkong where I met the Sub-divisional Officer. Here I learnt that Yacham, having heard that sepoys were coming both from Wakching and Mokokchung had hurriedly changed their tune and were very willing to pay a fine. Some of the Yacham notables came in to Merangkong, and I also sent word for Kaolum to come and meet me at the Dikhu with the Hukpang gaonburas. With 50 rifles about they were unlikely to give trouble about coming in. Between Tamlu and the river the Muharrir has started cutting away the path which had just begun to get firm to make a perfectly useless re-alignment a foot lower. |
