text: To Bhandari, via Merapani. I went down the forest path by which they told me I could get to Merapani. It was true because I did get there, but they had not told me that the path did not exist for the last five miles. We plunged through face-high sword grass and thorns, and into unseen khals and got covered with leeches and scratches, but got through absolutely soaked, and somehow dragged the pony along as well, though most of the "path" was only fit for elephants. From Merapani we went on to Bhandari.
