Halted Dimapur. From 8.30 to 10.0 I spent investigating the boundary between the Naga Hills and Nowgong at a spot where the map and the notification are at variance. When I got back I took up cases and remained hearing cases from 10.15 to 7.0 pm with half an hour's interval for lunch. Some of the cases were important and several pleaders appeared. |

In the course of one case it transpired that the complainant was a sawyer cutting trees in the Naga Hills under license from the Deputy Conservator of Forests, Sibsagar. He stated that he was cutting south of the Rangapahar Reserved Forest. If so this is outside the area of the plains portion of the Dimapur Mauza and the passes were improperly issued. Deputy Conservator of Forests has no authority to issue passes for that area. |
