text: To Sakhai. A great deal of illness here. Hoito, still very sick wants his pay for the time he is ill. I do not know when he was first shown as on leave. This can be raised in Kohima. Kohoto fell ill on the road and had to be carried in. Khuivi is reported to have lost 38 lives during the last month or two, and there is measles (or small pox) at Lhoshyepu. The harvest however promises fairly well, if only the villages are not too sick to reap. I have had to call coolies from more than one village to make up my quota for the last two marches as there is so much sickness.
