panikhets made in the bed of the Dzulu river; a new game played with canes at Kidima |

To Viswema, where I inspected the Thana and school and then on to Kidima. The path from Viswema to Kidima must be generations old as it is worn down into a deep cut the whole way. Panikhets have been made right down into the bed of the Dzulu where their survival through any heavy rain must be exceedingly problematical. At Kidima I saw a new game going on - new to me that is - played by throwing 3-and-a-half foot canes of titapatti or ekra violently on the ground where there is a slight slope. The cane flies up again and shoots a surprising distance. |
