I got in at 3.30 and my kit at 4.30 and at dusk the Constable I had sent to the village came in saying that the Sardar of the place flatly refused to supply coolies without the order of the Siem of Nongkhrem, a day's journey away. |

The bungalow here appears neglected and is in bad order. The roof is gone in places and the bottle-khana was all awash. One of the bedrooms had panes of glass missing. The latrine was designed by Mr. Heath Robinson, but for practical purposes I prefer the Donaldson, or any other than this, whatsoever. |
