29/1/1926 To Sahunyu a very pleasant village by the Tizu - naked Rengmas and of a curiously uniform village type, a great contrast in this to Lopvomi or the non-naked Rengmas of the Themokedi neighbourhood. They are very conservative and the men still go naked and they still bury inside their houses, which the other naked Rengmas do not do, I think, but probably did as they put a miniature house over the grave like the Tangkhuls. Sahunyu is in rather an out of the way corner and not many Naga traders come through. I reassessed the village. They got no crop this year and I have exempted all but 15 houses from revenue for the current year. |
