28/1/1926 To Phekrokejima, via Kromi, where I was delayed for a long fine [sic time] owing to a dispute between Pholami and Kromesomi as to which route should be taken by Pholami when paying a visit of ceremony to the upper khel of Khromi. At Phekrokejima there is an epidemic of measles - also at Losama. There is also a thorny question at Phekrokejima as to the hospital water supply. The water is brought at present for a considerable distance, and the hospital wants to make a bamboo pipe line. The question is as to how this can be done without interfering with the water supply of someone's field. |

Phekrokejima apply for a school. It is a big village and a suitable place for one if I can find a suitable teacher. |

I received news here that someone has been putting round a rumour that I am going to burn Thachumi - the culprit is probably Telongchu of Thachunasami - a prize rogue. I am sending the Thachumi dobashi ahead to reassure them and their neighbours that I intend no harm. |
