27/1/1926 To Pholami - about 11 miles over the Numuuh range. In the pass at the top is a hidden lake of some size from which a stream comes down to the valley. |

Before I left Thevopitsimi applied for a loan of Rs. 100/- as a great deal of damage has been done to their crops by hail this year and some dozen households have no rice to go on with; one had already left the village and they want to keep the others from going but hardly anyone has surplus paddy at present. They will probably have to have the loan and the gaonburas offer themselves as surety for repayment. |

A big powwow of the village in my camp at the time and a number of small cases mostly disputes between individuals and the community were mostly settled satisfactorily. |
