Borjan; smallpox at the colliery; Wakching stole steel piping |

7/7/1926 To Kongan. There is smallpox at the Colliery - six cases - but their lymph has all gone wrong. I got myself and some of the Safari vaccinated with it on the offchance it would take, but the doctor said it had not taken on anyone so far. |

In the evening - after dark of course - I learnt that the village responsible for the theft of pipes was Wakching, and that the thieves had gone down to steal rupees in conjunction with some "Bengalis" at Naginimara, and being unable to get at the rupees had taken the piping as better than nothing. It has already gone across the frontier to make guns. |
