25/7/1926 To Sakhalu - wading. Yemeshe came in about the colony proposed to be sent [to] Changsung. The Semas have a new story of their arrangement with Ehlimomo and say that he agreed to receive a settlement of 30 household to live in a separate khel and keep their own gennas. If he said so I don't believe that he meant it, as he told me he would take 11 households only, on very different conditions. |

I visited Sheyepu on the way, and was astonished at the number of genna posts erected. Nearly every house had recent genna poles in front of it. I have never seen anything like this in a Sema village before, and it indicates quite unusual prosperity for the Semas. I am told it is entirely due to panikhets, and I feel that I have not lived in vain. |
