to Kohima; damage to suspension bridge caused by heavy rains, and to path by buffaloes |

4/8/1926 To Kohima. The suspension bridge put up by Burns in 1893 over the Dzulu would also have been cut out, I think, but for the sausages I had put in last year. One of these had gone - the bottom one - and will have to be renewed, and a third line put in above the second. Another day or two of flood like this year's would break down the sausages and cut right in behind the anchorages. As it is it reached almost to the level of the bridge itself. |

The path in fair order but damaged here and there by buffaloes. Fewer slips than I had expected. |

It rained very heavily, for the last six miles, and indeed I suppose this is the wettest tour I have ever had anywhere. |
