Need for a dispensary in the Rangazumi area; infanticide in the case of an illegitimate child |

To Ralung, 6 miles, Momphiyo and Changsung applied for guns. |

Via Rangazumi and Choshinyu to Phekekrima. In all these villages there are a most distressing number of ghastly ulcer cases. A dispensary is badly needed somewhere down here. The locality is unhealthy and Kohima and Wokha are equally far off. I recounted Rongazumi and Choshinyu. The homicide of an illegitimate child was reported from Mohumi, but the report may have been coloured with spite. |

Choshinyu complained that the Rs. 15/- paid per mile for keeping open the path - not a proper bridle path - was inadequate, and Phekekrima complained because the Muharrir would not let them put cattle fences across it, I told them that they might do so. I saw the land of the Mohumi-Choshinyu land case on the way and indicated the lines to be marked out for a boundary by dobashis. There is also an old dispute between Choshinyu and Rangazumi; I think there is a reserved strip between these villages. |
