text: Up to Jessami and thence to Sorophong alias Togwema, Nungphung on the map, about 12 miles through very pleasant country of open pine forest, but excessively hot and involving a drop to the river level with an exceedingly steep climb up. This village, in the Manipur State, is a mixed Angami and Tangkhul village, the former predominating a new village on an old but long abandoned site, and exceedingly well situated. Also they brew the best brand of rice-wine I have yet met.
