Down to Nakachari. Mr. Pawsey's new cart road in excellent order considering that it has hardly had time to settle. The difference when we got on to the Local Board Road was very noticeable. They have not mended the bridge at Morangial. The bridge at Morangial is a kachha affair of three round wooden poles and a layer of sticks across. One of the poles has rotted and fallen in and the gaps in the sticks are covered by bits of old and crumpled tin. The culvert is a very small one and it would cost little to put in a permanent brick one. All the other bridges on the road on both sides of this are in good order and it is absurd to risk the interruption of all traffic for want of a brick culvert. Caught the 1.0 train and reached Dimapur at 6.30. |
