text: Halted Khonoma. Went up to the old fort and disposed by auction of the disputed stones, half the crowd aching for a fight, very excited and bidding against their own bids. As soon as the sale was over the people who had failed to bid wanted to pay more and take the stones. Everyone was dissatisfied. The buyers because they had said too much and those who had not bought because they had not made the buyers pay enough. I left them all shouting and arguing together, but had to go back again in the afternoon to say where Merhema could put their stones and how high a platform could be built etc. Details are recorded in Political Case No.25 of 1928.
