to Tesangki; elephant and cattle damage; Chalkot School |

To Tesangki - the road disgusting on account of the cattle of Lakema and Berrima who keep no cowherds and were fined Rs.50/- each on that account. |

Saiyang and Sinjol apply for guns. They live down in the valley and really need them. One at any rate can get a village gun next year. |

Many complaints of elephants. They have even - the evidence is incontestible - looted and drunk the modhu prepared by Sugit village for its cultivators. |

All sorts of people waiting for me on the path including Chalkot School turned out to show that it was still a living concern, as I had threatened it with closure for poor attendance. Delayed in this way - I did not get in till 4.0 p.m., though the march is only 16 miles. The rain held off till two miles from Tesangki and then came down in a heavy downpour which stopped when I reached the Inspection Bungalow. Leeches very bad. |
