text: To Lakema. Berrima have failed to find a cowherd. Instead they say that they will fence the cattle off the path. Lakema undertake to do the same, but I fined them Rs.25/- each to impress the matter on their memories.
text: The Gaonburas of Lakema complained of the firing of jungle for shikar purposes throughout the cold weather. I told them to warn the village against it and to eat fines from the offenders, and that I would back them. This firing of the jungle is the ruination of the land.
