To Pedi, taking the Naga path over the hill Ngainakitiya - "House of swifts" to see if the bridle path could be taken that way to cut off the Ridima detour. As a short cut it saves a great deal, but I doubt if it could save much to take a graded path that way unless it were possible to leave the present path at about 37 and three-quarter miles, run obliquely from there to the neck below the hill where the Naga path crosses it, and thence down to about the 42nd mile. The question would then arise as to how soon the saving in mileage would repay the capital outlay, but first it would be necessary to cut a trace and measure it. And there are several small streams which would probably need stone culverts. |

Requests for blasting powder from the Civil Works Godown (on payment of course) are becoming a nuisance. I propose to allow, or rather order, the licensed ammunition dealer to keep small stocks of blasting powder and fuse to be sold on passes from me. |
